Ohio pain clinic operators indicted
WAVERLY, Ohio (AP) — Federal and local authorities say six people have been indicted on charges alleging a southern Ohio pain management clinic sold drug prescriptions fraudulently.
Authorities say the alleged “pill mill” operated under different names and let people get pain medicine without a doctor’s exam or legitimate medical need.
They say as many as 80 people a day paid up to $180 for visits to Ohio Medical and Pain Management in Waverly.
Clinic owner Nancy Sadler faces the most charges in the federal indictment in Cincinnati: 29 counts, including 24 counts of unlawful distribution of controlled substances.
Ohio authorities have stepped up efforts to fight pain medicine abuse.
