New Castle teen run over

HERMITAGE, PA.

A 17-year-old New Castle girl was run over Tuesday after she slid off the hood of a car being driven by a friend, Hermitage police reported.

The accident happened at 2:47 p.m. in the plaza that houses the Shenango Valley Cinemas off State Street, police reported.

The car was driven by a 17-year-old Greenville, Pa., girl. Police did not provide names.

Police said they don’t know the extent of the girl’s injuries, but she was coherent and talking before being taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

A police officer driving through the plaza saw the accident.

Police are continuing their investigation.
