Melvin Shaw enters not guilty pleas to murder, attempted murder
YOUNGSTOWN — Melvin Shaw, 18, accused in the shooting death of Tracee Banks, 17, and wounding of Jamel Turner, 18, in June, was arraigned today before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court without a repeat of what happened at his arraignment in Youngstown Municipal Court.
Shaw entered not guilty pleas to charges of murder and attempted murder and was immediately escorted from the court.
At his July arraignment in municipal court, members of his family and the Banks family got into a scuffle outside the courtroom. Several people were arrested on charges ranging from disorderly conduct to failure to disperse.
Shaw remains in county jail of a $1.25 million bond.
