Art in the park
austintown
In conjunction with the Austintown Township Park Summer Concert Series, more than four dozen senior- citizen artists will exhibit their paintings at 7 p.m. today at the park pavilion on Kirk Road. Artists range in age from 45-99, some are active, but most have some disability, and all are residents of the Briarfield Group assisted-living and residence facilities in Austintown and Mineral Ridge.
More than 300 paintings created by the artists were used in a montage that will be unveiled this evening. The main image was painted by 80-something Mary Meese of Briarfield at Ashley Circle in 2009. Visit graymattermontages.blogspot.com for a preview of the montage.
For more information, call Sue Grecko at Victoria House Assisted Living at 330-799-1711.
Al Hreno will offer a big-band and military tribute in the Kirk Road amphitheater, down the hill from the pavilion housing the art show.
