4-year-old Newton Falls boy shot dead at home

A Tuesday evening shooting left a 4-year-old boy dead in his Newton Falls home on Trumbull Court.

The son of Michael and Amanda Stewart was shot directly in the chest with a revolver around 5 p.m. and found dead on the scene, according to a police news release.

The investigation is ongoing and police cannot confirm whether the boy shot himself.

The death appears to be accidental, but the Newton Falls Police Department, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office and the Trumbull County Coroner’s office are continuing to investigate, the press release states.
