Ohio to spend less than $100K to test lakes

COLUMBUS
As blue-green algae is popping up in lakes across Ohio, the state plans to spend less than $100,000 to test water in about 10 inland lakes.
That’s compared with the nearly $8 million the state plans to spend to improve and promote its lakes and stock them with fish.
Ohio freshwater specialist Anthony Sasson said there should be more testing and added that promoting tourism should go hand in hand with making sure the water’s safe.
The state Environmental Protection Agency’s inland lakes program said it would cover more lakes if it had more money.
Ohio has some 400 public lakes.
