Struthers wins 10th in a row, clinches tie for title

SALEM — Senior Ashley Baron had eight strikeouts during a five-hitter for Struthers, which won its 10th in a row, 13-2 over Salem in high school softball on Thursday.
The Wildcats (17-3, 6-0) also clinched a tie for the AAC White Tier title.
Senior Dana Mathews had three singles, while Baron, sophomore Katie Jordan and freshman Amber Affagato had two hits apiece for Struthers.
Becca Devlin and Tiffany Woods hit triples for Salem.

Tawny Rogers hit a three run homerun in the second inning to lead Champion past the Tigers. Rogers had two hits on the game, driving in four runs.
Lindsay Swipas gave up just one hit on the mound for Champion (17-0), while contributing to her offense with three doubles.
Brooke Culler also doubled for Champion, while Taylor Petersal, Haley McAllister, and McKenzie Kiser each added two hits.
Howland’s lone hit was a double by Erika Nites.

Madison Yanek’s first inning two run home run led the Raiders to a share of the ITCL Tier One championship by beating Columbiana.
Yanek (7-1) also had nine strikeouts in her six innings on the mound.
Carly DeRose came in to relieve Yanek in the seventh, striking out the side.
Emily Seman doubled for South Range (18-1, 12-0).
Columbiana is 10-8, 6-6.

Hilary Hoppel had a home run and triple for the Eagles, while Emily Henceroth had three hits, including a triple.
United’s pitchers only gave up one hit and no walks while striking out 12.
Sebring is 3-14 overall and 1-9 in the ITCL Tier Two.

Emily Chandler had three hits, including two doubles and drove in four RBIs to lead Poland (16-1, 6-0 All-American Conference Red Tier).
Pitcher Jenna Modic (5-1) also doubled and drove in four runs, while Jessica D’Apolito doubled and drove in two.
Kaylie Benson added two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Beaver Local’s lone hit came on the first pitch of the game by Brandi Frampton.

Lindsey Dodgson (8-0) had six strikeouts in just three innings of work to lead Niles past Campbell.
Dodgson also added two hits and drove in three RBIs for the Red Dragons (18-5, 3-3).
Aubrey Hale added three RBIs, while Sammy Melius, Ashley Ganyard, and Lindsay Bates added drove in two RBIs each respectively.
No stats were reported for Campbell.

Caitlyn Carney had two doubles and Lindsey Knipp added three hits to lead the Blue Jays to their late inning win over Southern (7-13, 2-9 ITCL Tier Two).
Cat Keck had two hits including a double and drove in two RBIs, one of those coming in Jackson-Milton’s (10-7, 6-5) four run seventh.
Katy Santor also doubled for the Blue Jays.
Southern’s Rachel Coil tripled in the game.

Gabby Ciccone homered while Cori Pavlicko and Carly Conklin each hit two doubles for the Rockets.
Winning pitcher Kayla Mazaczak (2-0) struck out seven and walked two. She also had three hits.
