The board of education authorized the district director of operations to seek proposals for a new public- address/intercom system for Boardman Glenwood Middle School.

The purchase is part of a plan to replace all of the systems in the district buildings, said Frank Lazzeri, superintendent.

The estimated cost for the middle-school system is $40,000.

James Massey, director of operations, said he hopes to add a lockdown feature to the middle-school system. “You hit the button, [and] it gives the response for a lockdown,” Massey said.

“It notifies the police, and it locks the outside doors. It’s security. And that’s the type of thing that, obviously, all schools need.”

At its regular meeting Monday, the board also granted tenure to the following 12 teachers:

William Amendol, district music teacher.

Matthew Beard, Robinwood Lane third-grade teacher.

Jeff Boyll, high school foreign-language teacher.

Kathryn Carnie, high school English teacher.

Gina Crilley, high school English teacher.

Joseph Ignazio, Center Middle School sixth-grade teacher.

Moris Jadue, high school foreign-language teacher.

Terrance James, Center Middle School seventh-grade teacher.

Daniel Kibby, West Boulevard kindergarten teacher.

Candi Kominak, Stadium Drive kindergarten teacher.

Courtney Pilch, Glenwood Middle School guidance counselor.

Casey Putko, Stadium Drive first-grade teacher.
