April 10

Breaking and entering/vandalism: Someone entered a building in the 5600 block of Market Street through a rear door, then damaged the interior and its contents.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Glenwood Avenue woman said her former boyfriend took her 2003 Chevrolet Impala without consent.

Bad checks: A man deposited two $890 money orders later determined to be fraudulent at Home Savings and Loan, 4005 Hillman Way, and withdrew $1,167. The man claimed he was unaware the orders were phony, a report said.

Arrest: Police took 28-year-old Michael Esposito III into custody at his residence, 1998 Mathews Road, on a felony charge of menacing by stalking as well as on a misdemeanor warrant. Esposito’s former girlfriend reported he had driven by her home and threatened to kill her.

Recovered property: Liberty police found a 2000 Chevrolet Express that had been stolen from a South Avenue business.

April 11

Theft: Two 20-year-old women stole $21 worth of groceries from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A $219 global positioning system unit was taken from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Identity fraud: A Lockwood Boulevard man reported that a Mahoning County deputy sheriff informed him about a warrant for his arrest during a traffic stop near U.S. Route 224. The deputy then discovered someone had used the accuser’s Social Security number.

Theft: Someone stole four wheels and tires off a vehicle at Spartan Auto Sales Inc., 438 E. Western Reserve Road. The theft came to $2,000.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 4400 block of Hopkins Road and removed several tools and a bicycle.

Arrest: Authorities charged 39-year-old Mark E. Grace, 3924 Risher Road, with violating a protection order after Grace’s wife reported he was in their home, in violation of a provision in the order stating he was to vacate the residence.

Citation: Police cited John A. Baumgartner, 18, of 4940 Grover Drive, during a traffic stop when, police said, a small quantity of suspected marijuana was found.

Theft: Two women stole $45 worth of household products from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle sustained windshield damage in the 1800 block of Oles Avenue.

April 12

Theft: A township man found out his Giant Eagle card had been used without authorization.

Vandalism: A swastika was painted on a garage in the 100 block of Charles Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Someone spray-painted derogatory remarks on and tossed eggs at property on a construction site in the 7400 block of Southern Boulevard.

Menacing: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road business reported an irate client threatened to destroy an office.

Criminal mischief: Someone threw down and wrote vulgar phrases on a $200 basketball hoop in the 7400 block of Fawn Drive.

Theft: A 17-year-old Salem girl was charged with stealing five cosmetics and jewelry from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Police charged Courtney A. Cobb, 20, of 857 Marmion Ave., Youngstown, and Brittany N. Littlejohn, also 20, of 3141 Hadley Ave., Liberty, in the theft of six head wraps from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Cobb also faced a felony count of possession of drugs when, authorities said, a white substance that tested positive for cocaine was in her purse.

Arrest: Police investigating a possible runaway juvenile from another state arrested a girl, 15, in the 7500 block of Market Street on charges of being a runaway and unruly juvenile, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. The teen provided false information, they said.

Vandalism: Graffiti was found on a side of a building in the 7400 block of Southern Boulevard.

Identity fraud: An elderly Harrington Avenue man told police a collection agency had called saying he owes $1,007 on an account he never opened.

Theft: Two checkbooks and personal papers were removed from a car in the 6000 block of South Avenue.

April 13

Aggravated menacing: A couple walking their dog on Newport Drive told police two men in their late teens wearing red jackets, one pointing a gun, approached from behind. The victims screamed and both men fled on foot, a report showed. Arrest: Jamell L. North Sr., 32, of 2119 Summer St., Youngstown, was taken into custody in the 100 block of Boardman-Canfield Road on a felony charge of drug possession and a misdemeanor count of obstructing official business. North led police on a foot chase during a traffic stop, and a bag of suspected heroin was found, a report said.

Aggravated menacing: Cody H. Luckey, 18, of 530 Cameron Ave., Youngstown, was charged after an employee with a Market Street motel responded to a disturbance and asked Luckey and another person to leave. Luckey pointed a gun from his vehicle at the worker, a report said.

Burglary: In the 400 block of Jaronte Drive by unknown means. Money and jewelry were stolen.

Theft/forgery: A Las Vegas woman found out her deceased grandfather’s signature had been forged on a personal check that was cashed for $13,000. The grandfather lived in Boardman.

Menacing: A Salinas Trail man reported a female neighbor threatened to have someone beat him up.

April 14

Arrest: Officers responded to a 911 call from the 30 block of Shields Road, then arrested 21-year-old Jessica Edmonds, 39 Hilton Ave., Youngstown, upon learning she was wanted by Portage County authorities on one count of failing to appear in court on a simple-assault charge.
