Boardman girls track second in Federal


The Boardman track team took 15 girls to the Poland Invitational Saturday and the team placed 10th out of 24 teams. In the discus, Valerie Hood threw an outstanding toss of 144-6 in the semifinals and set a new meet record, breaking the previous record of 137-10. In the finals, Ali Tolich from Fitch threw 148-1 to break the new mark.

Hood finished second in the event with her career-best toss and placed third in the shot put (39-5 æ.)

Many of the junior varsity team members and a few varsity members attended the Western Reserve Relays Apr. 22 where the team placed 10th overall.

On Apr. 20, the track team kept their hopes alive to stay in second in the Federal League by earning a 78-59 win over Massillon Perry.

The 4x800 meter relay team ran a season-best time of 10:03.7 to win the first event of the meet. The team consisted of Katie Heney, Colleen Kratofil, Emily Bodamer, and Tori Moore.

Lauren Davila won the 100 high hurdles in a season best of 17.2.

Nicole Vlad won the 300 hurdles in 48.9.

Doriyon Glass won the 100 in 12.8 and anchored the winning 4x200 meter relay with teammates Nicole Biagetti, Lesley Koch and Lyndsay Olenych (1:49.1.)

The 4x100 meter relay team of Biagetti, Koch, Vlad, and Olenych took first in 51.9.

Glass ran a season-best time of 59.7 to win the 400.

It was a sweep for the Spartans in the 200 as Glass won in 26.4, Biagetti was second in 26.9 and Koch was third in 27.5.

Rachel Cantanzriti won the high jump at 4-10, Biagetti won the long jump in 15-11 Ω and Lauren Davila was second, jumping 14-6 Ω”.

Hood won the discus (130-1) and the shot put (37-7 º).
