Police are investigating allegations that two men were stabbed by their live-in girlfriends in separate incidents on the same day.
According to police, a 51-year-old St. Louis Avenue man was driven to St. Elizabeth Health Center by his mother at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after the man went to his mother’s home with a stab wound to his abdomen. Doctors said the man had stab wounds to his arm and abdomen.
Police spoke to the man who would say only, “It was nothing. It was an accident.” The man’s mother told officers her son would not tell her who stabbed him, but she believes it to be the man’s live-in girlfriend.
Police also are investigating a stabbing on East Ravenwood Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police found a 42-year-old resident stabbed in the head.
According to reports, the man told police he got into a heated argument with his live-in girlfriend of two years. He said the woman came at him with a knife and stabbed him twice in the head before the two struggled over the weapon.
The woman ran out of the house, leaving the bloody knife on the front porch, he told police.
The man told police he wants to pursue charges against the woman.
