McDonald clinches tie for ITCL

Austin Bucan’s solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning put McDonald (11-3, 9-1) ahead as the Blue Devils clinched a tie for the Inter Tri-County League Tier Two title with a 7-5 baseball win over Western Reserve on Tuesday. Winning pitcher Anthony Raschilla’s (5-0) three hits included a solo homer. He scored two runs and drove in two. On the mound, Raschilla struck out eight. For Western Reserve, Nick Timko and John Rosati each homered and doubled.

Canfield 11, Lakeview 1

CANFIELD

Senior Dan Calai (4-0) had eight strikeouts during a three-hitter for the Cards (11-6). Senior Kyle Vaclav had two doubles, senior Nick Benson had two RBI singles, senior Brett Cooper had a double and single and three RBIs and junior Brock McGivern had two singles and two RBIs.

Girard 12, Brookfield 2

GIRARD

Sophomore Jim Melfi got his first win on the mound, giving up just two runs and striking out six for Girard (14-6, 5-2 All-American Conference Blue Tier). Mike Floravit went 2- -for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. A.J. Weibel had two hits, including a double and drove in four runs. A.J. DeVore and Dante DelBene each doubled for Girard.

Canton Glen Oak 13, Fitch 4

AUSTINTOWN

Jordan Shank and Alex Sedon had two doubles each for the Eagles (11-5, 5-1 Federal League). Jeff Polen and Anthony Beitler doubled. Tony Koch and Josh Foster doubled for Fitch (4-11, 0-7).

Jackson 6, Boardman 0

BOARDMAN

Dustin Corso had two hits to lead Boardman(6-10, 1-5 FL), including a double. Sam Porter also doubled for the Spartans. Jackson is 15-1, 7-0.

Mooney 19, Sharon 1

STRUTHERS

Ryan Gallagher doubled for Mooney (13-3) while Boo Vazquez tripled. Mark Warchol got the win for the Cards.

South Range 7, East Palestine 0

NORTH LIMA

Andy Lacefield had two hits and drove in three runs to to lead South Range (13-3. 7-2 ITCL Tier One). Jack McDonald pitched six innings, striking out 10 to get his third win on the season. McDonald also doubled, while Vince Miller and Gerrad Rohan each added two hits.

Columbiana 10, Mineral Ridge 5

COLUMBIANA

Kyle Shaffer went 3 for 3 with a triple, double and he scored four times to lead Columbiana (9-8, 6-3 ITCL Tier One). Matt Douglas also went 3 for 3 with a double and drove in two RBIs. Jeff Davidson, Tyler Denmeade and Josh Saverko each had two hits and drove in a pair. For Mineral Ridge (7-8, 5-4), Tom Padovani had two hits with two RBIs, and Mike White doubled.

Crestview 8, LiSBon 1

COLUMBIANA

Tom Marnejon pitched a complete game and struck out seven as the Rebels were able to win. And 10 hits helped, as Marnejon went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Springfield 10, United 2

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Matt Semach’s three hits included a double and he drove in two runs for the Tigers (15-4, 8-2 ITCL Tier One). Ronnie Bovo tripled while winning pitcher Brad Ferraro (3-0) had three hits and three RBIs. On the mound, he struck out five and walked four.

United pitcher Jansen Sneltzer struck out three and walked four. Brett Albright doubled and Josh McLaughlin had two hits.

Wellsville 6, Jackson-Milton 5

NORTH JACKSON

Wellsville scored once in the top of the seventh to snap a 5-5 tie.

John Gherardi had a two-RBI double, Josh Kramer knocked in two runs, while Jim Nagy and Joe Sharisky had a double apiece for Jackson-Milton (5-12, 2-7 ITCL).

Youngstown Christian 11, East 1

STRUTHERS

Anthony Abeid, Brian Perry, Seth McMillan and Bobby Schmid had two singles, while Brian Richey doubled for Youngstown Christian (2-10) at Cene Park.Abeid (2-2) had seven strikeouts.

West Branch 7, Minerva 0

BELOIT

Mike Smith’s two hits drove in two runs for the Warriors (13-6, 6-3 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Jake Stahl’s two hits included a double. Brendan Wells also had two hits. Winning pitcher Kolin Stanley struck out six batters and walked two. For the Lions (10-7, 5-4), Chase Petree and Ryker Looke doubled.

Norton 4, Southeast 1

RAVENNA

Steve South pitched five innings and Tim Cool relieved in the sixth to complete a two-hitter for Norton (10-4, 5-2 PTC). Ian Adair and Cool had two singles apiece, while Ethan Johanyak and Lewis Weber both doubled for Norton.

Anthony Pennington had a double and Zach Sallaz singled for Southeast (3-13, 0-7).
