Woman charged with stealing $69 in lottery tickets

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — An eastern Pennsylvania woman is charged with stealing thousands of dollars from the gas station where she worked so she could buy scratch-off lottery tickets.

Police charged 38-year-old Kimberly Williams in January with stealing about $21,000 in deposits from the Bethlehem gas station where she worked. Prosecutors say further investigations shows she stole more than $68,000.

According to court records, Williams told police she took the money so she could buy scratch-off lottery tickets.

Williams waived a preliminary hearing today. Defense attorney Ed Angelo says his client is a gambling addict who regrets the thefts and will try to repay the money.
