Soldier arrested in Ohio homeless assault

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati police say a Kentucky-based soldier and another man have been arrested in the beating of a homeless man and that two North Carolina-based soldiers are suspects.

Authorities say Fort Knox, Ky., military police turned over 24-year-old Riley Feller to the Hardin County, Ky., Sheriff’s office today. Feller was being held on a fugitive charge at the county jail. A deputy says he will be arraigned Wednesday, pending extradition to Ohio.

Cincinnati police allege that Feller, 24-year-old Cincinnati resident Michael Hesson, and two soldiers based at Fort Bragg, N.C., badly beat 52-year-old John Johnson at a homeless encampment under a bridge April 10.

Hesson was in Hamilton County Jail today on a charge of felonious assault.
