Handcuffed Pa. prisoner escapes from constable

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a prisoner who escaped in handcuffs after being transported to the Indiana County Jail by a constable.

Police say 23-year-old Shane Michael Long ran from the constable today when they arrived at the jail after attending a hearing on summary bad check charges. Authorities believe Long may have stolen a Toyota Avalon a short time later.

Police set up a perimeter around the area and were using a helicopter to try and find Long. Police are asking anyone with information about Long or the stolen car to call authorities.
