The Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center refused to take a 17-year-old girl who had threatened her mother Friday afternoon at their Halsey Drive Northeast home, so police took her back home — where she later injured herself and a family friend, police said.

The girl’s mother called police the first time about 4:20 p.m. when she became fearful of the girl, who had thrown a plant.

After JJC refused to take her, police returned her to her mother. At 7:15 p.m., police were called to the home again, this time finding the girl bleeding from having broken the window in the garage door.

A family friend also had a scratch on her face that the girl had given her, she said.

The teenager was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A call to Anthony M. Natale, administrator of the domestic relations and juvenile courts, was not returned Monday afternoon. A spokesperson at the Juvenile Justice Center later said the person who handles intake at the facility had gone home for the day.
