The Ohio State Highway Patrol Southington post is investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
The patrol said that John C. Frantz, 37, of Kinsman, was driving a pickup truck north on state Route 7 and turned left onto Spencer Clark Road about 2:40 p.m.
Toni L. Wiscott, 47, of Kinsman, was traveling south on Route 7, and Frantz failed to yield the turn and his truck was struck on the right side by Wiscott’s car.
Both vehicles then went off the road, striking a ditch.
Wiscott and her daughter, Maddi, 14, who was a passenger, were transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Their conditions were unavailable Sunday night.
First black officer

A presentation about Henry O. Flipper, the first black cadet to graduate from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and first black officer to command regular Army troops, will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, also known as the Steel Museum, at 151 W. Wood St.
Levy meeting

Springfield Township police will have a public informational meeting regarding the upcoming 1-mill renewal levy on the May 4 ballot.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the township administration building.
Chief Matthew R. Mohn will be available to answer questions regarding the levy.
Gauge testing
LISBON
The Columbiana County Extension Office in conjunction with the Holmes County Extension Office will be conducting pressure-canner gauge testing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 27 at the Columbiana County Extension Office.
People should bring their own lid and gauge.
The fee is $5 per gauge. Checks will be accepted and should be made out to OSU Holmes County. People may drop off their lids and fee and return to get them later in the day.

Spelling bee July 1
BAZETTA
The 24th annual spelling bee sponsored by the Trumbull Retired Teachers’ Association will be during the Trumbull County Fair on Everett-Hull Road at 1 p.m. July 1.
It is open to students in grades one through eight. Participants will receive free admission to the fair.

Cemetery cleanup
