Two men shot in legs in Warren
WARREN
Two men were shot in their legs near a garage on Youngstown Road near Woodbine Avenue Southeast around 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Police were interviewing several people, including suspects taken into custody late Friday.
Witnesses said they saw one man with blood all over his legs walking casually from between two houses on the north side of Youngstown Road a short distance west of Woodbine just after the shooting. The man walked to a nearby ambulance company for treatment.
The incident took place across the street from the Big Apple Convenient Mart, where Derek A. Thrash, 20, of Warren was shot to death at 2:40 a.m. Oct. 3.
James Dotson Jr., 27, of Warren goes on trial for the killing on Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
William Norman, who lives on Woodbine Avenue, a short distance from the Big Apple and Friday’s shootings, said his neighborhood has become very busy with traffic in recent years from customers of the Pit Stop convenient store next door to the Big Apple and from a house up the street where dozens of people congregate.
“I worry about my boys,” Norman said of retaliation that he assumes will occur for Friday’s shootings and the possibility that an innocent bystander could get hit by the gunfire.
