Ursuline’s Lower blanks Akron Springfield, 3-0


AKRON

Casey Lower (10-3) pitched a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and one walk to lead Ursuline past Akron Springfield 3-0 in a softball game Friday.

Malikka Caige had two hits and scored a run, Krista Byers had two hits and Sarah Ingalls had two hits and an RBI for the Irish (10-4).

Springfield is 4-9.

Lakeview 4, Liberty 3

CORTLAND

Raelynn Burns hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the eighth and scored on an error one out later to lead Lakeview (7-7, 3-2 AAC White).

Alyssa Nicholas and Haley Ball each added two singles and winning pitcher Alexis Neumeister (5-5) struck out 12. For Liberty (5-9, 2-3), Alison House had two hits.

Hubbard 11, Salem 1

SALEM

Haley Thirion (3-4) tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk. Kari Durina, Devon Zelonish and Mariah Gordon also had two hits and Ashley Bone homered.

For Salem, Katie McDevitt doubled.

Niles 4, Beaver Local 3

Lisbon

Lindsey Dodgson (7-0) struck out eight and had two RBIs for the Red Dragons (16-3).

Megan McDermott, Samii Famer and Sammy Meilus each had two hits for Niles.

LaBrae 11, Brookfield 6

Brookfield

The Warriors scored six runs on only two hits, and were helped by six Viking errors. But the Vikings used 11 hits and six Brookfield errors to win.

Chelsie Hartman hit a two-run home run for Brookfield, which scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. But Jessica Buck (6-3) struck out 12 Warriors to get the victory.

Champion 4, Newton Falls 1

CHAMPION

Champion scored all four runs in the sixth inning, but were able to stay ahead thanks to a 12-strikeout, three-hit performance by Morgan White.

White (6-0) got help from a pair of home runs by Alison Sorber and Tawny Rogers.

Springfield 12, Crestview 2

COLUMBIANA

Senior Ashley Davis’ double scored Andria Lyons to snap a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth to put the Tigers (7-8, ITCL 7-3 Tier One) ahead.

Sophomore Kim Taylor followed Davis and hit a two-run homer. Taylor also had a double and single, while Lyons and Davis also had three hits.

After starter Elissa Burkey pitched 32/3 and gave up three hits, Sami Semach (3-2) worked the final 31/3 innings and gave up two hits. For Crestview, Ashley Harrison had two singles.

McDonald 5, Mineral Ridge 2

McDonald

Kaitlin Rutushin picked up her ninth win of the season (9-3) by striking out nine batters and allowing only three hits against the Rams.

Alyssa Hutzler had a double, and Ashley Seybert had a home run for the Blue Devils.
