Suspect in burglaries arrested

COLUMBIANA

Authorities said Friday that a Mineral Ridge man charged with burglary here also is a suspect in similar burglaries in Pennsylvania and elsewhere in Ohio.

Nicholas G. Farmer, 24, of Cedarwood Drive, was taken into custody about 2 p.m. Thursday, said Columbiana County Sheriff Ray Stone.

Members of the sheriff’s office, the Columbiana County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police made the arrest on state Route 14 near Columbiana.

Pennsylvania State Police were following him. According to a report, Farmer had kicked a door open at a house at 46433 state Route 14, Columbiana, but fled when an alarm went off.

Authorities said that when they stopped Farmer, they found stolen items, drugs and burglary tools.

Detectives believe that Farmer has committed as many as 50 burglaries in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
