Shooting probe continues in city

YOUNGSTOWN

Police have no new information on the shooting that occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday on Myrtle Avenue. Police said someone came to the home of an 18-year-old man and asked for him. When he came to the door, he was shot several times and his attacker fled.

A police report said he was in critical condition after the shooting. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, but a hospital official said Friday night his condition could not be released.

Daffodil show today in park

YOUNGSTOWN

Fellows Riverside Gardens’ Daffodil Show will take place from noon to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. This show, presented by Mill Creek MetroParks, is one of more than 40 that take place this spring throughout the United States associated with the American Daffodil Society.

Entries from the general public will be accepted until 10 a.m. today, followed by judging and then open viewing.

Fellows Riverside Gardens is located at 123 McKinley Ave., off Mahoning Avenue, near downtown.

Road worker identified

A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation worker who was killed in a road-work accident has been identified.

Pulaski Township police said he is Richard Bentel, 42, of Ellwood City.

Pulaski Sgt. Chad Adams said workers were paving a part of state Route 551 north when the accident happened.

He said Bentel slipped and fell as a grader was moving forward, and the grader ran over him.

He said the death has been ruled accidental.

Tentative contract

LISBON

The Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities has announced a tentative agreement with the union of the Columbiana County Developmental Disabilities Employees Association.

The CCBDD Employee Association voted overwhelmingly to accept a final contract proposal on Thursday evening. The board met Friday to vote on the tentative agreement.

Details of the agreement won’t be released until approved by the board.
