MERCER, Pa.

The Christian Coalition of Mercer County is sponsoring a Tea Party that will meet on the lawn of the Mercer County Courthouse from 10 a.m. till noon Saturday. In case of rain, the rally will be in Mercer High School on West Butler Street.

Speakers are Dr. Mark Hendrickson, a Grove City College professor of free-market economics; Ed Roberson, county chairman of the Constitutional Party; and the Rev. William Schafer, pastor of Dewey Avenue Christian Church.

Murder indictment

YOUNGSTOWN

A 23-year-old Halleck Street man was indicted Thursday by a Mahoning County grand jury on charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery with firearm specifications in the Jan. 12 shooting death of Rodney Weaver. Weaver and a friend were robbed at gunpoint in the 300 block of Broadway as they sat in a car. Weaver and his passenger tried to flee on foot. Shots were fired, and Weaver was struck in the leg and later died in the hospital.

Road worker killed

PULASKI, PA.

A PennDOT worker was killed Thursday when he fell from a road-grader being used along Pa. Route 551 in Pulaski Township, Lawrence County, and then was run over by the grader. Jim Struzzi, a PennDOT spokesman, said the worker, whose name hasn’t been released, was 42 and lived in Ellwood City. The man was a temporary, winter employee who was hired last November. His employment was to end next Friday, Struzzi said. Pulaski Township police are investigating.

Special meeting

Myrtle Beach flights

VIENNA

The first flight from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Allegiant Air departed Thursday afternoon. Allegiant announced in February that it was adding Myrtle Beach flights to the Youngstown lineup.

The flights leave the local airport at 2:05 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays and arrive at 3:45 p.m. Return flights are available Thursdays and Sundays between 2:45 p.m. and 4:25 p.m. The company is expanding offerings because of the good response from local customers to the flights it has offered between Vienna and the Sanford International Airport, in Orlando, Fla., since May 2006, said Allegiant spokesman John Fenyes.

Teens find body

Two teenagers found the body of a man behind the former Perkins restaurant at 3632 Belmont Ave. on Wednesday, police said. The report said the boys saw the body in a fenced area while they were walking through a parking lot behind the building. Police believe they know who the man is but did not positively identify him. The body was taken by the Trumbull County coroner’s office. Police said they are waiting for the results of the coroner’s investigation.
