Prosecutors: Woman accused of killing agent lied

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a Pennsylvania woman claiming she shot an FBI agent in self-defense lied to police about a previous burglary that caused her to fear intruders.

In documents filed Wednesday, prosecutors say Christina Korbe and her husband submitted an insurance claim in August 2008 for a burglary that never occurred.

Korbe is charged with shooting FBI agent Samuel Hicks at her home in Glenshaw as agents tried to arrest her husband, Robert Korbe, in November 2008.

Prosecutors say Christina Korbe cited a bogus burglary in statements to police. They say it was actually part of an insurance fraud scheme.

An attorney for Korbe declined comment on the filing.

Korbe remains jailed while awaiting trial. A pretrial motion hearing is scheduled for May 4.
