POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

April 18

Theft: A woman who had reported her purse missing at a West Wilson Avenue business found the purse in a restroom but with $520 and several debit and credit cards missing.

April 19

Theft: A woman in the 900 block of Shannon Road reported a Sony PlayStation 2 system and related accessories missing.

Aggravated menacing: A male juvenile, no age or city listed, was arrested at a park off Hartzell Street and charged after another boy said he had been given a round of ammunition and threatened.

April 20

Menacing: A man in the 900 block of Shannon Road reported having been threatened.

Criminal mischief: A Shannon Road woman discovered several items in a bedroom had been damaged or destroyed.

April 21

Vandalism: Someone shot and caused roughly $4,000 worth of damage to a billboard near Interstate 80.

HUBBARD

April 17

Trespassing: A West Liberty Street woman told police another female trespassed on the accuser’s property and opened her mail without consent.

Assault: Two people in the 200 block of East Liberty Street filed a report.

Theft: A driver returned to a Speedway station, 806 W. Liberty St., to pay for gasoline after an employee reported someone had driven away without paying.

Theft: A laptop computer was removed from a home in the 200 block of East Liberty Street.

Theft: Carolyn Petaccio, 2949 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, Hubbard, was charged after a shoplifting situation at Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St.

April 19

Menacing: A Doris Drive woman reported receiving a series of unwanted letters.

April 20

Counterfeit: Phony money was passed at Circle K, 211 W. Liberty St.

Arrest: Youngstown police picked up Deon Burley, no information provided, near Youngstown-Hubbard Road on a warrant from Hubbard Mayor’s Court. He also had suspected crack cocaine, a report said.

LIBERTY

April 16

Counterfeit: A Brookfield man reported selling a vehicle to someone he was to meet near state Route 304 and that the person gave him money, $970 of which was counterfeit.

Burglary: In the 800 block of Mansell Drive after someone forced open the front door. A computer and jewelry were among the items stolen.

Theft: A 32-inch flat-screen TV was taken from a residence in the 100 block of Warner Road.

April 17

Theft: A charge was pending against a 17-year-old Youngstown girl accused of stealing $51 worth of clothing from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road.

Domestic violence: Kevon M. Williams, 18, of 2307 Ohio Ave., Youngstown, faced a charge after a Monticello Boulevard woman reported having been slapped, punched and grabbed by the throat.

Criminal damaging: A driver near Mount Everett Drive reported an object, likely a pellet, struck his passenger-side door.

April 18

Theft: A Niles man, 27, faced a possible charge after a cable, a splitter device and a remote control unit were stolen from Wal-Mart.

Arrest: Officers responded to a fight in the 3100 block of Hadley Road, where they took into custody 50-year-old Gary D. Carter, 3001 Green Acres Drive, Liberty. He was wanted on warrants from the county and township.

April 19

Possible fraud: A Sampson Road man checking his account noticed a $20 monthly withdrawal fee going to a business he never authorized for the transaction.

Arrest: Robert F. Palumbo, 46, of 929 Pinecrest Drive, Girard, was arrested on Warner Road. Palumbo was wanted on drug-abuse and traffic charges as well as on a felony warrant from Lake County, Ohio, charging him with a probation violation.

April 20

Arrest: Teresa M. Whitehead, 35, of 444 Catalina Drive, Youngstown, was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and falsification. Whitehead, who police said provided a false name, date of birth, Social Security number and age, also had a suspected crack pipe, a report showed.

April 21

Theft: A charge was pending against a 37-year-old Youngstown woman after $349 worth of clothing was stolen from Wal-Mart.
