Man sentenced in child endangering case

YOUNGSTOWN — A 27-year-old Springfield Township man has been sentenced to six years in prison for violently shaking his two-month old son last December.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the prison time this morning on David Bowdish of Struthers Road, who pleaded guilty to one felony count of child endangering.

In a plea deal, prosecutors dropped a second felony child endangering count and agreed to recommend a six-year prison term. The maximum sentence could have been eight years.

The child appears to have made a full recovery, said Gabriel Wildman, an assistance county prosecutor.
