No virus detected for YSU computers

YOUNGSTOWN — It turns out that Youngstown State University’s computer network wasn’t under attack from a virus or anything else today.

The problem was caused by an automatic safety update by McAfee anti-virus software that falsely detected a virus, said Ron Cole, YSU spokesman.

YSU wasn’t the only victim. There were reports of similar events at universities around the country.

Cole said the problem was corrected this afternoon.
