Authorities: Ohio man had napalm bomb

CLEVELAND (AP) — A suburban Cleveland man who police say was keeping a homemade napalm bomb, other explosives and assault weapons has pleaded not guilty to dozens of charges.

Thirty-year-old Matthew Fairfield of North Olmsted was arraigned Tuesday, more than a week after he was arrested by members of a mortgage fraud task force. Prosecutors say detectives discovered the arsenal in two homes Fairfield was renting.

He was indicted last week on multiple counts of possession of a dangerous ordnance and other charges. Fairfield remained jailed today on $1 million bond.

A spokesman for the county prosecutor’s office says the case grew out of a mortgage fraud investigation but says the explosives are not related to mortgage fraud. He declined to comment at length.
