The Big Reach Center of Hope, a ministry of Greenford Christian Church, will host the fourth annual Feed the Need from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Covelli Centre parking lot.

Feed the Need is an annual event in which individuals and families receive food, personal-care items, sack lunches and Bibles. Those attending are asked to bring a box or container for the items received. The event is open to anyone in need.

Feed the Need has assisted more than 2,000 Mahoning Valley residents.

Indecency charge

A Burkey Road man was charged with public indecency after employees at Frank Ohl Intermediate School reported he was masturbating in his backyard.

Employees called police shortly before noon Friday, reporting that a man was sitting in his yard, facing the school playground and fondling himself.

John R. Slipski Sr., 61, told police he only was watching the children. He denied any indecent behavior but was issued a summons for public indecency.

Columbiana

The Columbiana Exempted Village Schools will have screening and registration from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. April 28 to 30. People should bring their child along with the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record, custody papers if applicable and proof of residency. The session will take about an hour.

Parents of open-enrollment students must begin by calling the superintendent’s office at (330) 482-5352 before the screening and registration.

Dinner fundraiser

WARREN

Cheryl Warfield, a Warren native and soprano who has performed on Broadway and around the world, will entertain at a dinner fundraiser for the Valley Community Mental Health Foundation.

The event, “An Evening With Cheryl Warfield,” will be at 5:30 p.m. May 10 at W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Avenue.

Dinner reservations are $60 per person. A table of 10 is $540. Those wishing to attend should RSVP by April 30. Call (330) 394-6244, ext. 1115, for information.

Valley Counseling Mental Health Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 to raise money, improve understanding of mental illness and eliminate the stigma associated with brain diseases.

Warfield is the sister of Warren native and NFL great Paul Warfield.
