Street department approves city contract offer

Not wanting to go on strike, the 31-member city street department union today approved the administration’s “last, best and final” contract offer, its president said.

“The contract passed narrowly,” said Sam Prosser, president of the Teamsters Local 377. Approval was “not by a lot, but by enough to suggest that some of the guys aren’t happy.”

Prosser declined to disclose today’s vote results.
