A city man was arrested after being accused of stabbing his neighbor.

The assault occurred just after midnight Sunday after a 56-year-old Judson Avenue man said he was watching the Kelly Pavlik fight in his apartment.

The victim told police he was yelling when the fight ended, and Raymond Lewis, his upstairs neighbor, began stomping on the floor and then came down to confront the victim about the noise.

The victim said he felt threatened by Lewis, 50, so he punched him twice, according to a police report. Lewis then stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a steak knife and went back up to his apartment, police said.

Upon questioning, Lewis told police the victim hit him in the head with a fishing pole. Police found the knife, which was slightly bent, in a bedroom in Lewis’ apartment.

He was charged with felonious assault and booked into the Mahoning County jail. The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center and was in stable condition Sunday.
