Neighborhood Ministries joins campaign

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Neighborhood Ministries, a United Way agency with community outreaches to low-income children and adults, is again participating in the Feinstein Anti-Hunger campaign that provides food for the hungry.

Neighborhood Ministries maintains three food pantries: Kirwan Home Housing Development, 75 Jackson St., Campbell; Rockford Village Housing Development, 1402B Dogwood Lane, Youngstown, and Westside Community Center, 304 Matta Ave., Youngstown.

Each pantry provides monthly emergency assistance, which helps families have more money for utilities and other necessities.

For each box or can of food or each dollar donated through April 30, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation will provide a portion of a $1 million match.

Neighborhood Ministries is able to feed a family of four for one week for less than $10, but given the number of families who are in need, it is necessary to raise thousands of dollars each year just for food.

Donations of food and cash are appreciated and can be taken to any of the three locations. Call the business office at (330) 755-8696 to arrange for a drop-off time or to arrange for food pickup.
