Weather cancels Liberty cleanup activity

LIBERTY—Today’s unseasonably cold weather led to postponement of the 16th annual Great American Cleanup in which Liberty High School volunteers were to pick up litter in the township throughout the weekend.

June Smallwood, Liberty park and program coordinator, said she hopes to reschedule the two-day event next weekend, but added that a decision won’t be made until midweek.

The cleanup, which is sponsored by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District, will run from noon to 5 p.m. both days. Gloves, vests, bags and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers
