Village police arrested a Lowellville man who is charged in the rape of a 10-year-old boy in Liberty.
About 10 p.m. Tuesday, an officer ran a random registration check on a vehicle that was traveling south on state Route 616. The check revealed that the owner, Robert M. McIntire, 30, of McGuffey Road, was wanted on a warrant out of Trumbull County charging him with rape.
McIntire was arrested and taken to Salt Springs Road, where village police were met by Trumbull County deputy sheriffs, who took McIntire to jail.
McIntire was secretly indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on two counts each of rape and gross sexual imposition.
He appeared this week before Judge John Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. The judge set McIntire’s bond at $1 million.
He is scheduled to return to court Thursday for a pretrial hearing.
The indictment says that the victim was a 10-year-old boy. The reported acts occurred between November and December 2009. If convicted, McIntire faces a possible life sentence.
The case was investigated by Liberty Township Police and the Trumbull County Children Services Board.
