Robinwood Lane students prepare to graduate

Robinwood Lane fourth-graders, in preparation for their graduation to fifth grade, titled their spring chorus concert, “Middle School Bound.”

The concert consisted of 12 songs varying in topics and introduced by different students. The songs all pertained to making the most out of life and being a patriot.

Music director Dean Wilson says education is important and there is no better way to demonstrate that than by congratulating students on their academic achievement and advancement to fifth grade.

“Times are changing, we make a big deal out of graduating at the grade school level and that’s a good thing,” Wilson said. “We really need to sell academics.”

The choir is composed of fourth-graders who were willing and able to make the sacrifice of staying after school for choir practice. They have been preparing for the concert since January by practicing after school once a week.

The choir has also made special appearances at nursing homes and other charitable events.

The group will travel to Westminster College for a performance in its Wallace Chapel April 13. They will sing for individuals enrolled in the institution’s education program and will receive a tour of the campus.

The actual graduation ceremony for the soon-to-be fifth-graders will be June 7 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Friends, family and the community are invited to meet the graduates.
