Community preschoolers enjoyed a morning of crafts as they designed an original spring basket. A Most Unusual Basket, was sponsored by Fellows Riverside Gardens and is a monthly activity.

Anita Wesler, Riverside’s horticulture educator, led the group through an interactive story where children took turns placing environmental items on an adhesive board. She also read them a book which described the colors and shapes of common vegetables and fruits.

Each preschooler was given a blank basket for them to design with colored markers. An Oxalis, green shamrock, was given to each participant to take home in their basket.

Each month features a different project. Next month, preschoolers will make a Mother’s Day bouquet. A Most Unusual Basket is for ages 3 to 5 and requires registration through Fellows Riverside Gardens.
