Over 100 shoppers clustered around the entrance to the new Goodwill store located on Mahoning Avenue April 8.
Many customers had been waiting outside the store for the grand opening, anxious to be some of its first customers.
Austintown resident Dianna Wilgosz said Goodwill offers a lot of good merchandise. She loves shopping in a store that offers new and used items at an affordable price. She even gives back to the store on occasion.
“I am a full-time student. I have a 7-year-old and I’m on a fixed income,” Wilgosz said, “I buy stuff here, she wears it, then I donate it back.”
According to Erika Parker, marketing manager, Goodwill Industries closed its donation center years ago and since then, have always wanted to open a store in the community.
“We liked the location and there was availability. We were able to get the deal done and we thought we needed to have a presence in the Austintown community,” said Parker.
