Canfield softball team splits doubleheader

The Canfield Cardinals girls softball team split a doubleheader Apr. 10, winning the open and falling in the nightcap.

The Cardinals beat Howland 4-3 in the first game. Brina Sturgeon doubled and scored on two wild pitches in the sixth for Canfield. Sarah Vrabel hit a two-run double in the seventh to score the winning runs.

In game two, North Allegheny defeated Canfield, 4-2. Sturgeon had an RBI-double to drive in the Cardinals’ only two runs.

Canfield beats Salem

The Canfield girls softball team added another victory to their season Monday by defeating Salem 8-0.

Canfield had 12 hits and zero errors while Salem only managed one hit and had two errors.

Brina Sturgeon pitched five innings and Sarah Vrabel pitched two.

Vrabel went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Sturgeon went 3-for-4.
