Arts are in bloom at St. Charles school
While spring is converting the blank canvas of dormant winter landscapes into vibrant artistry, St. Charles School is using the season to celebrate its artistic spirit.
This year, the school is hosting three separate art shows to showcase student work.
The celebration began with a Kids Art Fair held at the school Mar. 24. There, every student in kindergarten through eighth grade had a piece of work on display in a framed and matted format. The nearly 500-piece exhibit was full of color.
St. Charles hosted its second show of the season, the Diocesan Regional Art Festival. Wednesday. The evening included performances by the school’s choir and bell choir.
There were 230 pieces on display by fifth through eighth-grade students at eight area parochial schools, including St. Rose, St. Patrick, St. Nicholas, St. Luke, Warren JFK, Holy Family, St. Christine and St. Charles.
The school will hold its sixth annual St. Charles Museum of Art May 15 and 16. This show features one work submitted by each student in sixth through eighth grade.
The museum is on display in the Parish Social Hall and is open to the public from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 15, and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 16.
All attendees get to judge as well, by casting their vote for a People’s Choice winner.
