Feds: Probe breaks up 7-state drug ring

CLEVELAND (AP) — Federal agents say they have broken up drugs-on-demand operations in seven states and Puerto Rico that made use of the Internet and phony prescriptions.

One of two indictments announced in Cleveland today by federal authorities charges 12 people, including physicians, and two companies. The defendants, in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico, are accused of illegally selling painkillers and other drugs online.

The second indictment charges a Cleveland-area dentist, his assistant and a third person with dealing in painkillers through phony prescriptions.
