Civic league events are announced

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.

Dr. James Gardener will be the speaker at a meeting of the Civic League of Wilmington Township, Mercer County, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the township building, 158 Auction Road.

He will speak of his experiences while providing relief for victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Residents of Wilmington Township are reminded that a $500 and a $750 scholarship are available to adults seeking higher education and to high school students. The deadline to apply is May 1.

A quilt, made by the Quilters Club, will be raffled on May 15 to raise funds for the scholarships.

The league is accepting donations (no clothing) for a garage sale to be on May 15.
