POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:
HUBBARD
April 8
Fraud: A worker for Diane’s Cut Away, 536 W. Liberty St., told police a customer used a phony credit card to pay for services.
Domestic violence: Ronald K. Chaney, no information given, and a juvenile were arrested after a fight near Maple Grove Drive.
April 9
Criminal damaging: A Mackey Street woman reported someone shot and broke a window on her vehicle.
Recovered property: A circular saw was found near a concession stand at a park on Roosevelt Drive.
April 10
Assault: A 17-year-old boy was charged after a Henry Street man reported having been punched.
Recovered property: A bicycle was found in a front yard after a North Main Street man had reported it stolen from his son.
GIRARD
April 10
Criminal mischief: A car’s passenger-side window was broken in the 200 block of East Main Street.
Theft/damage: Someone in the 200 block of East Wilson Avenue broke a vehicle’s window before removing an in-dash compact-disc player.
April 11
Aggravated menacing: A North Highland Avenue man said his wife implied he would be killed during an argument related to the couple’s deceased son.
Assault: Ryan S. Carnahan, 598 Stull Ave., faced a charge after a manager of the apartment complex reported having been pushed.
Arrests: Authorities responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of North Highland Avenue and later charged Kristen M. Kightlinger, 25, of 518 W. Liberty St., Hubbard, with disorderly conduct and obstructing justice, and 23-year-old Brian D. White, 804 Gaylord Ave., Masury, with possession of drug paraphernalia. Another man had led police on a foot pursuit, and Kightlinger provided a false name for the man, a report said.
Assault: Two residents in the 200 block of East Liberty Street said a neighbor chased or poked them with a baseball bat.
April 12
Theft: Police charged William K. Peterson, no age or city listed, with theft and possession of criminal tools after receiving a report that someone was stealing building materials from a home in the 800 block of Mosier Road.
Drugs: Officers responded to a possible drug overdose in the 900 block of Patricia Avenue, then issued a summons to Jennifer Lambert, 973 Patricia, charging her with disorderly conduct. Lambert refused to cooperate with police and paramedics, a report said.
LIBERTY
April 7
A Youngstown girl, 17, was detained after three T-shirts and a pair of pants were stolen from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road.
Burglary: Took place in the 1900 block of Oriel-Rogers Road via the front door. Stolen was a 32-inch high-definition TV.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear passenger-side window was smashed in the 4000 block of Logangate Road, for a damage estimate of $300.
April 8
Theft: A charge was pending against a Hubbard woman, 49, after items were taken from Wal-Mart.
Theft: Two Hubbard girls, 14 and 16, faced possible charges in the theft of five rings and makeup from Wal-Mart.
Theft: A man found out an oxygen concentrator, a breathing apparatus and an oxygen tank had been stolen from a carport at his former residence in the 1300 block of West Montrose Avenue.
Theft: A charge was pending after a Girard man, 18, was accused of stealing from Wal-Mart a $26 set of small headphones.
Theft: A woman found out her debit card had been used without authorization to withdraw $20 from an automated-teller machine at a Belmont Avenue bank.
April 9
Possible theft: A Dade Avenue woman noticed her garage door open, then later realized jewelry was missing from her purse.
April 10
Auto theft: A 1999 Plymouth Voyager was stolen in the 100 block of Euclid Boulevard.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 3400 block of Logan Way through a side door. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, but damage was done to various furnishings.
Recovered property: While on patrol, police discovered a 1987 Cadillac near Shannon and Tibbetts-Wick roads that had been stolen in Niles. The vehicle had damage to its steering column.
Assault: James W. Phillips, 75, of 1780 Lucretia Drive, Liberty, was cited on an assault charge after a neighbor reported Phillips had struck her in the mouth during an argument about debris being tossed into the accuser’s yard.
April 11
Drugs: A summons was issued to 21-year-old Charles Carpenter, 148 Fifth Ave., Sharon, Pa., in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. Three plastic wraps of suspected marijuana were found, they said.
Criminal damaging: Someone tossed objects from a balcony at a Belmont Avenue motel, damaging two cars.
Theft: A rear license plate was removed from a car in the 30 block of Fairlawn Avenue.
Criminal damaging: A storm door sustained $400 worth of damage at a home in the 1000 block of Leslie Lane.
Theft: A Youngstown woman accused her former boyfriend of stealing her wallet in the 3000 block of Northgate Drive.
April 12
Theft: A charge was pending against a Youngstown woman, 46, accused in the theft of $94 worth of children’s clothing from Wal-Mart.
Identity theft: A Mansell Drive man discovered someone had gained access to his Visa card and used it to make $3,669 worth of fraudulent purchases throughout the county.
