Overpayments returned by school-board members

YOUNGSTOWN

State audits of five area Summit Academy charter schools show they overpaid four school-board members by a total of $1,597 during fiscal 2008-09.

Some of the members served on more than one Summit Academy board.

The money has been repaid to the individual schools, according to audit reports filed by state Auditor Mary Taylor. The schools are among 27 managed by Summit Academy Management based in Copley, Ohio.

The overpayments were:

William Eppich: $112 repaid to Summit Academy Community School for Alternative Learners-Youngstown.

Patrick Slabaugh: $212 repaid each to Summit Academy Secondary School-Youngstown, and Summit Academy School-Youngstown (formerly Summit Academy Middle School-Youngstown).

Vincent Drexler: $312 repaid each to Summit Academy Community School-Warren, and Summit Academy School for Alternative Learners-Warren.

David Check: $437 repaid to Summit Academy Community School-Warren.
