Howland drops Lakeview; Hubbard beats Poland

HOWLAND
Adam Shrodek had two hits and scored the game-winning run with two outs in the fifth on an RBI single by Joe Aulizia to lead the Howland High baseball team to a 1-0 win over Lakeview on Monday. Aulizia also had two hits and Chris Leiby (1-1) pitched a complete game shutout with four strikeouts and two walks to lead Howland (5-4). Darrell Brammer struck out two and walked one in six innings for Lakeview.
Hubbard 10, Poland 5
POLAND
Sophomore Zach Merrell allowed seven hits and struck out six over six innings before senior Matt Shelton allowed one hit and struck out one for the Eagles (8-2). Senior Bo Slemons had five RBIs on two home runs and a single, senior Tommy Jackson had a homer and single and senior Zach Palumbo had two hits for Hubbard. Sean Gabriel had two singles and scored twice and Phil Lipari had two singles for Poland (6-2).
Canfield 12, Salem 0
SALEM
Senior Ron Sullivan and senior Matt Harmon combined on a three-hitter. Sullivan (1-1) gave up two hits and struck out five, while Harmon allowed one hit and struck out three. Senior Brett Cooper had three hits and three RBIs, senior Nick Benson had an RBI with three hits including a triple, senior Joe Hoelzel had two hits including a double and junior Brock McGivern also had two hits for Canfield (6-3). Alex Whinnery had two singles for Salem (1-5).
Niles 8, Struthers 5
STRUTHERS
Evan Bollinger tripled and drove in three runs, Austin Lykins had two hits, two runs and an RBI and Dustin Gerke had two hits and scored a run for Niles, which scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take control. For Struthers, Justin Hughes and Steve Wilja each had three hits and scored a run.
Girard 7, Campbell 5
GIRARD
A.J. Weibel doubled, scored two runs and added an RBI for Girard (6-3, 1-0 AAC Blue), while Michael Floravit and A.J. Weibel each doubled and drove in two. Patrick Rhodes (2-0) pitched a six-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks to get the win. Joshua Gore homered, tripled, scored twice and had three RBIs for Campbell.
Brookfield 3, LaBrae 1
LEAVITTSBURG
T.J. Hurst had a three-hitter which included four strikeouts and two walks. Preston Pascale had two singles for Brookfield (3-3). Zach Ewing had a double and single, while Chris Long had a single for LaBrae (1-6). LaBrae’s senior starter, Mike Morris, pitched 42‚Ñ3 innings before giving way to sophomores Bobby Klein (1 1/3) and Michael Roberts.
South Range 10, Lisbon 0
NORTH LIMA
Tom Delullo and Vince Miller each had two hits and two RBIs for South Range (6-2, 3-1 ITCL Tier One). Mike Thorpe tossed a one-hitter, striking out nine without a walk. Jake Borg had the lone hit for Lisbon.
Springfield 10, Mineral Ridge 5
MINERAL RIDGE
Dylon DeJane hit a pinch-hit, three-run double in the seventh inning as Springfield broke open a 3-3 game. Aaron Yoder added two hits for the Tigers (7-2, 4-1 ITCL Tier One). For Ridge, Tom Padovani had three hits and two RBIs, Tommy Robbins had three hits and Bobby Cameron two hits.
Wellsville 4, Western Reserve 2
WELLSVILLE
Nunzio Lombardozzi pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Wellsville. Brandon Laclair added two hits and two steals. For Reserve, John Gora doubled and scored a run and Chris Kalbfell added a hit, an RBI and two steals.

NORTH JACKSON
Senior Mike Gatta knocked in two runs on two hits including a double, senior Devin Bansberg went 3-for-3 with an RBI, senior Zach Puntel had two hits and three RBIs, junior Will Robison had two singles and an RBI and senior Anthony Raschilla had a two-run homer and three RBIs for McDonald (5-2, 4-1 ITCL Tier Two). Sophomore John Gherardi and junior Joe Sarisky both had two hits and two RBIs for Jackson-Milton (2-6, 2-3 ITCL Tier Two).
Columbiana 10, United 7
COLUMBIANA
Jeff Davidson (3-0) struck out seven to get the mound win and added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs to lead Columbiana (5-4, 4-1 ITCL Tier One), which rallied from a 3-0 deficit. Austin Creer had three hits for United (2-6, 1-4), Josh McLaughlin tripled and doubled and Jansen Sneltzer had three hits and two RBIs.
East Palestine 4, Crestview 3
COLUMBIANA
C.J. Sokolick hit a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to lead East Palestine. Sokolick had three RBIs and Adam Robb added two hits. For Crestview (2-7), Adam Coppock had two hits, one run and one stolen base and Brian Orr added a hit and two RBIs.
Mathews 13, Badger 3
VIENNA
Winning pitcher John Homan had three singles, while Reed Shields added three hits and three RBIs for Mathews (8-2, 3-0 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Collin Bowser and Rick Sommers added two hits each, and both had a double, for the Mustangs. Homan added six hits and struck out four. Badger is 1-5, 1-3.

Joey DeJacimo had the lone hit for Southeast (1-5, 0-3).
