Fundraiser to benefit group home residents

Father Snock Center at St. Matthias Church, 1800 Shady Run Road, will be the setting from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday for a “Youngstown Fights Back with Kindness” wine, beer and chocolate tasting event to be sponsored by Golden String Inc.

The cost, $15 per person, will include heavy appetizers provided by Lemon Grove, Pizza Joe’s, Chili’s and DiRusso’s. There will be a 50-50 raffle and a Chinese auction.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to five individuals with disabilities who were robbed at gunpoint this past Christmas Eve in the Iron and String Life Enhancement group home they share at St. Matthias. More than $3,200 was stolen from the staff, clients and the church property.
