Recycle appliances

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, residents can bring their unwanted appliances to the township government center, Dobbins Road.

The appliance-recycling drive is being funded by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention and the Mahoning County Green Team.

Among the items that will be accepted are refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, stoves, freezers, water heaters, water softeners and other appliances made primarily of ferrous/nonmetal.

There is no charge for Freon removal and no limit to the number of units.

Electronics, tires and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.

Endorsements

POLAND

The Democrats of the 17th and 6th Districts will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Poland Community Baseball Association to endorse candidates in the May 4 Democratic primary.

Primary candidates seeking the group’s endorsement are asked to attend. The meeting is open to the public.

Probate topics

BOARDMAN

A free probate-court town- hall meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lariccia Family Community Center in Boardman Township Park.

Judge Mark Belinky of Mahoning County Probate Court will participate, as will representatives of the sheriff’s department, mental-health and social-service agencies and bank-trust departments.

Topics will include estates, guardianships, adoptions and mental-health issues.

Bee secrets

Beekeeper Mary Brashen will present “Bees: Their Secrets and Treasures” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St.

She will address the current state of beekeeping and how bees impact our lives.

Liberty cleanup

Liberty Township will participate in the Great American Clean-up from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers should stop at the township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, for supplies and assignments. Belmont Giant Eagle will provide refreshments.

Braceville barn fire

The Braceville Fire Department responded to a barn fire about 9:05 Sunday at 5380 state Route 303 NE, reported Trumbull County 911 dispatch. Assisting were Newton Falls and Southington departments and from Portage County, Garrettsville and Windham.

No one was injured in the blaze. Animals were in the barn, but no more information was available. The barn was a total loss.
