Erin Vukovich’s double and Malikka Caige’s triple in the fourth inning helped the Ursuline High softball team defeat Hillsdale on Sunday at the Akron Racers’ Ohio Invitational Tournament. Caige had four hits and scored three runs while Kasey Foley had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs for the Irish (6-2). Vukovich and Sara Marr each had two hits. Hillsdale is 4-2. Ursuline won all three games this weekend at Firestone Stadium. In Friday’s 12-2 win over Akron Hoban, Brianna Curd hit a grand slam plus a bases-loaded double to drive in eight runs.

In the first game, Shane Brown had two hits and scored a run for the Golden Flashes. For Niles, Joe Livi doubled. In the Red Dragons’ win, Austin Lykins tripled while Livi, Patrick Barrett and Mike Watson doubled. For Champion, Zach Hayslett doubled.
Mooney 14-10, Akron Firestone 4-5
STRUTHERS
In the first game, Dan Reese tripled and doubled for the Cardinals at Cene Park. Also hitting triples were Ed Reese and Taylor Callahan. For Firestone, Connor Mathis tripled and Phil McIntyre doubled. In the second game, Dan Reese, Boo Vasquez and Dan Dougherty tripled and Dante Lewis and Drew Delsignore doubled for the Cardinals (6-2). Mike Safarek and Marc Warchol had two hits apiece. For Firestone (4-4), Lance Doles, Kyle Riley and Brett Allda each had two hits.
