MINERAL RIDGE

Bobby Cameron had two singles and scored twice, John Thomas had two hits including a double and scored twice, Tom Padovani had two singles and two RBIs and Mike White had two singles.

Anthony Pannunzio pitched 31‚Ñ3 innings in relief for the Rams. For Lowellville, Louie Lebron went 3-for-3 including a double and Matt Zackasee had three hits and scored. In the second game, Cameron had two hits for two RBIs and scored three times, Dan Ferguson had two hits and two RBIs and scored twice and John Thomas had two hits and scored twice for Mineral Ridge (4-2). Dino DiGiacomo (1-0) pitched 32‚Ñ3 innings of relief for the win. For Lowellville, Lebron, Ryan Whinery, Anthony Alfano and Randy Pavlicko all had two hits.

Chaney 12-16, Jackson-Milton 9-6

YOUNGSTOWN

Scott Renda pitched in relief to get the win in the first game and Renda also had a double and two singles. Tyler Lillo, Matt Franklin, Ed Rovnak and Emmett Connor all had two hits with Franklin registering two RBIs. The hits by Franklin and Rovnak included a double each and Connor had four stolen bases as a sophomore in his high school debut. In the second game, Rovnak (2-1) pitched five innings and had a triple and three RBIs. Dan Fanzo knocked in two runs and Lillo had two hits.

Liberty 8-0, Springfield 6-6

NEW MIDDLETOWN

In the first game, Aaron Carson was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Joe Tamarkin was 2-for-4 to lead Liberty. Cody Pitzo went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Springfield. In the nightcap, Brad Ferraro pitched six shutout innings, striking out six and walking two, to lead the Tigers while Ronnie Bovo doubled and drove in two runs. Ferraro had two hits and an RBI.

West Branch 10-13, United 0-0

HANOVERTON

Kolin Stanley (1-1) pitched a complete-game no-hitter for the Warriors, striking out seven and not walking a batter. The Warriors (5-3) were led at the plate by Jake Mull who homered and drove in four runs while Mickey Manser added two hits including a double. In the second game, Bo Beegle doubled and drove in three runs while Brenden Wells doubled and drove in a run. United (3-4) was led by Jason Sneltzer and Josh McLaughlin who each doubled.

Western Reserve 6-3, Columbiana 0-4

COLUMBIANA

Nick Timko struck out 11 in a three-hit shutout to lead the Blue Devils in the first game. Chris Kalbfell doubled and drove in two runs while Adam Smith also doubled for the Blue Devils. For Columbiana, Hank Schlueter struck out nine. In the second game, Jay Williamson hit a two-run homer, while Tyler Denmeade and Kyle Shaffer each had two hits for the Clippers (4-4). Jake Baker and Timko each had two hits, including a double, for the Blue Devils (8-3).

Marlington 21-16, YCS 2-1

STRUTHERS

Youngstown Christian’s John Pecchia and Bobby Schmid each had an RBI single in the first game. Pecchia hit a RBI triple to score Schmid in the second. YCS is 1-6, Marlington 7-3.

Canton GlenOak 9-3, Hubbard 1-7

CANTON

Tommy Monnot had two hits including a two-run homer and T.J. Sutton had two hits for GlenOak in the opening game. Ed Harris and John Bules combined for six strikeouts for the Golden Eagles, while seniors Bo Slemons and Dan Helsel both doubled for Hubbard. In the second game, junior Kory Hopkinson had three hits and three RBIs, Slemons had two hits and scored twice and senior Tommy Jackson had two hits including a home run for Hubbard (7-2). Jackson’s homer came on the fourth pitch of the game and Hopkinson’s two-run, two-out single in the three-run seventh scored Dan Helsel and Mike Lopuchovsky. GlenOak is 7-2.

Beaver Local 3-3, Crestview 2-0

LISBON

In the first game, Tristan Reynolds had two hits and a RBI. In the second game, Matt May’s two hits included a double.

Mathews 6-11, Jefferson Area 5-10

VIENNA

In the 6-5 win, Rick Sommers pitched a complete-game victory, while Collin Bowser, Reed Shields and Jimmy Hoffman keyed a five-run fifth. Bowser had three hits, while Shields and Hoffman had two apiece. Bowser, Shields and Hoffman all had doubles, while Shields and John Homan had two RBIs. After Jefferson took a 10-9 lead going into the bottom of the sixth in the second game, Eric Dahman held Jefferson scoreless in the seventh. In bottom of the seventh, Bowser singled and stole second before Sommers’ sacrifice bunt. Shields’ RBI single tied the game and Dahman had the game-winning hit up the middle for the 11-10 win.
