Lawrence Co. officials fill positions

NEW CASTLE, Pa.
Lawrence County Commissioners filled several positions when they met Tuesday.
Commission Chairman Steve Craig said all of the positions had been vacant for at least six months in accordance with the county’s hiring freeze, which is in effect to save money and dictates that vacant positions remain empty for six months before being filled. Commissioners said some of the positions have been vacant for a year.
Hired full time were: Rachael Barr, New Castle, as executive clerk in the county treasurer’s office at $22,826 annually; Becky Domin, New Castle, clerk typist I in the voter registration office at $21,436 annually; Jeremy Summerville, New Castle, professional appraiser for the assessor’s office at $25,000 annually.
Hired part time were: Jonathan Fauzey, New Wilmington, deputy sheriff at $12.35 hourly; Jason Medure, New Castle, as assistant district attorney at $10,375 annually.
Temporary part-time hirings included: Jordan Jones, Bessemer, as judicial aide to District Justice Jennifor Nicholson at $10.78 hourly; Kathy McDowell, New Castle, as courtroom assistant for Common Pleas Court Judge John Hodge, at $9.85 hourly; Jeffrey Morell, New Castle, as assistant detective in domestic relations at $12.90 hourly. All three replace employees who are on temporary leaves.
Commissioners also hired Pamela Stich at $21,600 plus 50 cents per mile and Dennis Stich at $8.10 hourly plus 50 cents per mile to conduct the West Nile virus program surveillance in the county from April 1 through Nov. 15. The two will test mosquitoes and provide control if any of the insects are found to be infected with the virus. The two have conducted the program here for several years.
