The four area participating Curves locations collected more than a ton of food in the monthlong, 12th annual food drive.
The clubs in Poland, Boardman, Austintown and Girard also collected more than $600. The collection and donations were donated to the Rescue Mission and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
“The Austintown location alone collected over 740 pounds of food and over $500,” said Patti Wirtz, owner of the Austintown club.
Amy Smith, owner of the Boardman club added, “Curves, the world’s largest fitness franchisor, has promoted community involvement to every one of their 14,000 club franchisees.”
Kathie Rosa, owner of the Poland Curves, stressed that “the thanks for this successful food drive goes to the clubs members, both old and new. Without them, we are nothing.”
Smith added that the local clubs are now working with the Silver Sneakers program and any woman with a Medicare supplement policy may be eligible to join Curves for free.
