YSU SPRING GAME | Second quarter
Quarterback Marc Kanetsky overthrew junior wideout Dionte Snow on what would have been a 57-yard TD pass and the Red team was forced to punt on the first series of the second quarter.
After a 52-yard punt by Nick Liste pinned the White at its own 5, the White managed just one first down before punting.
A dropped pass by Dominique Barnes, a holding penalty and a sack doomed the ensuing Red series, which stalled at the Red 48. The White then went three and out and punted.
The Red took a 20-7 lead with 4:28 left on a 23-yard TD pass from Kurt Hess to sophomore WR Jelani Berassa, beating cornerback Vance Gibbs, who was whistled for pass interference.
Kanetsky then drove the White down the field, going 70 yards in 13 plays, scoring on a 3-yard QB keeper with 24 seconds left, making it 20-13. Both sides have missed an extra point.
Kanetsky took over for the Red and drove them 39 yards in 22 seconds but Stephen Blose's 48-yard field goal attempt bounced off the right upright to end the half.
Red leads 20-13.
